The hummingbird wasn’t planned.

This artwork was originally meant to include many birds scattered throughout the forest.

But when I sat down to paint them, something didn’t feel right. It felt too busy, too chaotic for what I needed in my life at that time.

So I paused.

And I chose just one bird.

The hummingbird.

There was a moment in creating this piece where I was so scared to paint the branches. I was afraid of undoing all the work I’d poured into the background.

But this is often where the artwork truly begins to take shape. Letting go of perfection, trusting the process, and allowing the piece to evolve naturally and intuitively.

This was the step that brought the whole painting to life and made space for the hummingbird to appear...

What began as a single artwork exploring my own inner strength slowly grew into a collection of birds, each carrying a message for those who may also struggle with self-doubt and self-worth, and who need a visual reminder of their inner strength.
